The Safe Operation Card (SOC) includes general information about the reaction or type of operation that is being carried out along with potential safety hazards and emergency procedures. RSSI strongly recommends their usage for unattended operations (especially those carried out overnight) for the following reasons:

1. Preparation: Filling out an SOC encourages more thorough preparation and better  understanding of the reagents/products;

2. Information: The display of SOC provides information on the reaction and keeps all lab personnel informed;

3. Emergency: Emergency procedures and spill protocol ensures proper responses in case of emergencies even when the researcher is absent.
